Tradition and innovation will collide at the sophomore edition of Metaverse Fashion Week.
The 2023 edition of Decentrland’s Metaverse Fashion Week (MVFW) is upon us. Indeed, the event will involve global brands, who are hosting virtual storefronts in Decentraland’s Luxury District.
In this year’s edition, to be held on March 28-31, 2023, the potential of interoperability and the newest advancements in digital fashion will be unveiled.
Dr. Giovanna Graziosi Casimiro, Head of MVFW at Decentraland, said: “This year we are honored to continue the legacy of Metaverse Fashion Week. We are seeing the return of many fashion houses, and also the refinement and elevation of digitally-native fashion. We are excited to see some of the world’s greatest fashion minds engaging in the future of fashion.”
Future Heritage theme
The theme of MVFW23 will be ‘Future Heritage’. Moreover, this theme will shine a light on the connection between innovation and tradition.
Attendees will be treated to a wide range of experiences curated by global fashion brands. For instance, Dolce & Gabbana’s space will feature an exhibition of the winning designs from its ‘Future Reward’ competition.
In addition, Tommy Hilfiger’s MVFW experience will include a community competition – with the winner hand picked by Mr Tommy Hilfiger himself.
Among these spaces, there will be immersive virtual experiences by likes of Dundas, Amorepacific, Ben Bridge, and Monnier x Republic.
Metaverse fashion is back
Metaverse Fashion Week was pioneered by Decentraland and UDX, in collaboration with Spatial OVER metaverses. Last year, we saw the inaugural MVFW unveiled, which gave attendees some memorable highlights. For example, one notable attendee was Sophia the humanoid robot created by Hanson Robotics. Additionally, the all-new Luxury District was opened, where the MVFW’s main luxury catwalk took place.
This year, we will see the return of many brands like Vivienne Westwood, Dolce & Gabbana and Adidas. What is more, Miami Fashion week (MIAFW will be the first globally recognized fashion week to participate in a digital fashion week.
