Samsung is rumored to be working on a VR headset for the metaverse, and these recently uncovered patent filings just may have confirmed it. Han Jong-hee, CEO of Samsung Electronics, teased that the company may be working on a new virtual reality headset at Mobile World Congress 2022 in Barcelona, stating that [Metaverse-related devices] are now the talk of the town, so they’ve set down to a task to cope with the trend. These two trademark applications were filed on March 30, 2022 with the WIPO (World Intellectual Property Office), and while Galaxy VR can be assumed to be a headset, the other one, Galaxy 360, may be an accessory to connect it to other Galaxy devices. What do we know about Samsung’s next-generation VR headset? It’s speculated to have hologram technology instead of basic displays, thus providing a mixed reality experience.
