Today, at NVIDIA’s GTC online event between March 20-23, NVIDIA Founder and CEO Jensen Huang introduced core updates to its Omniverse real-time 3D (RT3D) content creation suite, which brings extra considerations to industrial Metaverse services, immersive content, and AI-driven developer pipelines.

The updated Omniverse platform provides a wealth of professional visualization tools to promote XR content development. Additionally, NVIDIA Omniverse is transforming into a cloud-based platform-as-a-service (PAAS) to offer international third-party developers tools for developing and distributing industrial metaverse applications.

NVIDIA is expanding the Omniverse ecosystem as a cloud-based hub so developers can complete enterprise tasks with increased accessibility and usability. Moreover, the cloud-based PAAS is only internationally available via cloud service provider Microsoft Azure.

The cloud-based service for “connecting, building, and operating” industrial Metaverse applications will soon support additional tools for AI-based avatars, 3D design/rendering, digital twins, and automation services. These updates are coming to NVIDIA Omniverse users in Spring 2023 in the platform’s 105 release.

NVIDIA GTC 2023: A Deep Dive into the Fresh Omniverse Ecosystem

With the latest NVIDIA Omniverse update, the firm is introducing three core features to enhance the ecosystem alongside other core considerations.

Firstly, NVIDIA is introducing new Universal Scene Description (USD) applications that provide specialist third-party tools to elevate workflows. NVIDIA integrates Siemens Teamcenter, Siemens NX, Siemens Process Simulate, Blender, Cesium, Emulate3D by Rockwell Automation, Unity, and Vectorworks into the Omniverse platform as of its most recent update.

Moreover, NVIDIA is soon adding Azure Digital Twin, Blackshark.ai, FlexSim and NavVis as official Omniverse USD services.

Additionally, NVIDIA is adding new SimReady 3D assets to Omniverse. The fresh service introduces a content library of over 1,000 RT3D assets for accelerating AI and industrial 3D workflows. The leading supplier of intelligent automation solutions, KUKA, is teaming up with NVIDIA to evaluate adopting the new SimReady content to simplify end-user simulation pipelines.

NVIDIA is also updating synthetic data generation on Omniverse via Omniverse Replicator. Synthetic data generation tracks real-world environmental data as a RT3D visualization, which helps to train AI and automation services. The software development kit (SDK) helps to train AI systems to complete computer-vision-aided industrial inspection tasks, such as self-driving cars or autonomous inspection robots.

Platform partners Lexset and Siemens SynthAI use the updated Omniverse Replicator SDK to improve AI-powered inspection services. Moreover, Datagen and Synthesis AI are utilizing the SDK to create synthetic digital humans for AI training.

NVIDIA GTC 2023: Powering the Omniverse

In addition, NVIDIA is introducing hardware, services, and systems that make the Omniverse platform more powerful and accessible.

NVIDIA Ada Lovelace GPUs, NVIDIA ConnectX-6 Dx SmartNICs, and Intel Xeon processors will power upcoming NVIDIA RTX workstations, which provide unmatched optimization for Omniverse operations.

Professional developers can access Omniverse and industrial metaverse workloads in the office, at home, or on the go with the fresh RTX 5000 Ada generation laptop GPU.

Additionally, NVIDIA unveiled its third-generation OVX, a computing system for supporting large-scale digital twin projects. NVIDIA is integrating the OVX system into Omniverse Enterprise edition.

NVIDIA GTC 2023: Future Omniverse Updates

Coming soon, NVIDIA is introducing updates in spring as part of Omniverse 105 to enhance workflows on the PAAS.

NVIDIA is updating USD Composer, formerly known as Omniverse Create, to enable service developers can customize for assembling large-scale, USD-based datasets. This soon-be-updated service allows developers to create sophisticated industrial Metaverse virtual worlds.

Additionally, NVIDIA USD Presenter, again previously known as Omniverse View, gives developers a rich visualization reference application, providing a hub for showcasing and reviewing USD projects interactively and collaboratively across a team.

Finally, NVIDIA is introducing USD-GDN Publisher, a cloud service suite for advanced, interactive, USD-based 3D experiences that can be quickly built, published, and streamed to nearly any device in any location by developers and service providers.
