Last Friday, in an interview with Protocol, Meta CEO and Founder Mark Zuckerberg revealed details of the upcoming Meta Quest Pro device, also known as Project Cambria.
The firm plans to officially unveil the device this Tuesday as part of its Meta Connect 2022 online showcase. At the event, Meta, along with its extended reality (XR) and artificial intelligence (AI) subdivisions, will highlight the firm’s most recent innovations in immersive social technologies.
During his interview last week, Zuckerberg noted that the upcoming mixed reality (MR) device would cost significantly more than the previous Meta Quest model.
The CEO explained that the consumer-grade Meta Quest Pro device might cost between $300 to $500, and an enterprise model would cost more.
He added,
“There’s going to be a work-grade device, which is going to eventually [be] a laptop or workstation replacement”
Zuckerberg continued, saying that workers can adopt a Quest Pro device as part of their desktop setup by the decade’s end. He noted that in comparison to video conferencing solutions, immersive hardware is far more effective for remote communications and enterprise collaboration.
Speaking on video conferencing service, he explained,
“You’re not making eye contact, you have no spatial audio. Every meeting you’re in kind of looks the same. It feels like it lacks reality, even if you’re actually seeing someone’s real face”

Last month, a leaked Facebook video emerged showing a hotel worker finding an abandoned pre-release model of the Meta Quest Pro device, which surfaced ahead of Tuesday’s Connect event.
According to reports, the upcoming MR headset contains a Qualcomm Snapdragon XR2 processor, pancake lenses, 2160×2160 resolution per eye, 90 Hz refresh rates, dynamic foveated rendering, 12 GB of LPDDR5 RAM, 256GB storage, and six degrees of freedom.
Meta’s Presence Platform also powers the device with full-colour passthrough MR visualisations.

On October 11, Meta is hosting its Connect event highlighting the firm’s XR technology updates and roadmaps. Alongside the Meta Quest Pro announcement, Connect also covers essential tech topics like third-party immersive ecosystems, business platforms, Horizon Workplace, content publishing, and developer diversity.
The event also hosts workshops to assist developers in creating consumer and enterprise-facing solutions on its Horizon Worlds Metaverse platform.
The Menlo Park-based is even hosting its event virtually via Horizon in a bespoke Metaverse environment.
Additionally, during its developer sessions, attendees can get the latest insights on creating Web3 content via immersive marketing, monetisation, and optimisation keynotes.
