This Tuesday, Dell officially announced Precision, its most recent lineup of powerful consumer laptops built for heavy-duty design applications to create digital content such as extended reality (XR), artificial intelligence (AI), computer-assisted design (CAD), and real-time 3D (RT3D) solutions.
Currently, the Precision lineup comprises three new laptops, including Precision 7770, Precision 7670, and the 5470 Anniversary Edition.

The new devices are purpose-built to support XR and RT3D design applications and include several 3D creation suites that Dell supports with its most recent laptop lineup.
Under the Hood
Dell designed the Precision 2022 lineup as a mobile workstation that enables users to have powerful RT3D design tools on them at all times.
Additionally, Dell built each Precision brand laptop with Intel-supplied Alder Lake-HX processors that contain 16 cores. Also, the laptop shares hardware features such as thermal innovations and a Compression Attached Memory Module (CAMM) component that has 128 GB of memory while being 57 percent thinner than traditional memory cards.

Furthermore, each product contains unique features. The Precision 7770 laptop incorporates:
- A 17.3-inch display
- Intel Core i9 vPro CPU
- RTX 3080 Ti 16 GB and RTX A5500 16 GB graphic processing unit (GPU) options
- Up to 128 GB in random access memory (RAM)
- 16 TB of storage
- 1080p-60Hz, or 2160p-120Hz resolutions
Also, the Precision 7670 laptop is slightly smaller in size and includes:
- 12 TB of memory
- 2400p 60Hz resolution powered by an OLED display
- Front-facing dual microphones
- GORE-based Thermal insulating
- NFC reader
Finally, the Precision 5470 Anniversary Edition contains the same hardware as the original 5470 model, including 64GB of DDR5 memory, 4TB of storage, and an NVIDIA RTX A1000 graphics card.
The 7770 and 7670 devices will debut worldwide later this year. Meanwhile, the Anniversary Edition will launch in 2022 for a limited time and only in the US. Dell has not confirmed a price for its products.
RT3D Design Applications Available Today
The announcement comes as numerous tech firms have begun developing cutting-edge real-time 3D content solutions aimed at expanding the global extended reality (XR) ecosystem.
Recently, computer graphics service provider NVIDIA debuted Instant Neural Radiance Fields (Instant NeRF) that turns 2D images into RT3D digital twins in seconds using AI and a super-fast neural network powered rendering pipeline.
Earlier in the year, NVIDIA announced at the Consumer Electronics Show that its Omniverse platform, which compiles third-party RT3D design tools into one suite, will be free for select users.
Additionally, major competitor Epic Games announced Unreal Engine Version 5 (UE5) this month, which hosts a selection of updates that dramatically enhances the RT3D creation suite with new tools for creating immersive worlds, including new lighting options, better dynamic shadows, high-quality virtual geometry, and cut rendering times.
Furthermore, RT3D engine firm Unity Technologies released its 2021 Long-Term Support plan, which improves – through fortnightly updates – its engine’s stability, efficiency, and productivity when producing RT3D content.
In February, Unity acquired the immersive character creation suite Ziva Dynamics to integrate its Hollywood-grade toolkit onto the Unity platform. Last month, Ziva Dynamics introduced a new soft-tissue animation tool that heightens immersive scene realism.
Also, STYLY, a cloud-based XR design application, also contains various tools for creators using an XR headset or a desktop device to create Metaverse experiences more efficiently.
