XR Analyst Leaks Meta Oculus 3, Pro Upgrades
US tech firm Meta was recently hit by leaks that unveiled updated specifications for the company’s upcoming Quest 3 and Pro headsets, according to reports.
Brad Lynch, XR and Tech Analyst, broke news on the Menlo Park-based firm’s head-mounted displays hours ahead of the CES 2022, offering crucial details for anticipating fans of the devices.
His tweets revealed specs on the kit, which included miniLED displays, controller upgrades, and a proprietary system-on-a-chip (SoC) processor for greater visual output, among many others.
HTC VIVE Reveals VIVE Focus 3 Wrist Trackers
The CES 2022 also saw HTC’s groundbreaking hand-tracking wearables designed for HTC VIVE Focus 3 VR headset, which the Taiwanese company hopes to release in the first quarter this year.
The device is set for pricing at £119 GBP and will feature 85 percent smaller form factors than previous iterations, and the wearables will allow smooth, fluid movements for avatars and other experiences.
Qualcomm, Microsoft to Build AR Metaverse Chip
US tech giants Microsoft and Qualcomm have teamed up to build a customised Snapdragon processor for next-generation AR devices, it was announced in a keynote speech at the CES 2022.
Cristiano Amon, Chief Executive for Qualcomm, said at the time the new chipset would power “next-generation, power-efficient, very lightweight” AR glasses using Micosoft’s software ecosystem.
According to statements, Qualcomm’s Snapdragon Spaces would integrate into Microsoft Mesh, the latter’s XR platform, for use with the future smart glasses. Microsoft added it aimed to work jointly with Qualcomm to “develop the Metaverse future” to expand its development partner programme.

Sony Interactive Entertainment debuted its PSVR 2 headset for the Playstation, including renders and controllers, which quickly sparked commentary on the potential of the unreleased kit.
At the company’s keynote speech, execs revealed the device’s headset, Sense controllers, and an impressive Horizons interactive VR experience.
CES 2022 Honours Kura Gallium AR Smart Glasses
At the CES 2022, numerous tech firms received honours for their contributions, with Kura Technologies earning an Innovation Award for creating the industry’s best-performing AR glasses.
The firm’s Kura Gallium AR smart glasses shocked audiences with a massive 150-degree FoV, 95 visual transparency for blending real and AR visuals, and an 8K resolution with 100 times the brightness of rival devices, among other features, earning the San Francisco, California-based the event’s top award.
