3 Points of Interest Added to Decentraland Map

In the two weeks since the last DAO Committee report, three Points of Interest (POI) have been added to the Decentraland map, one grant proposal was approved and 5 community polls have passed.

The governance dApp team has completed roll-out of the three-tiered binding governance proposal process passed by the Decentraland community on December 20, 2021. Proposals outside of established categories will now be required to pass through an iterative three-staged voting process, before being implemented as a binding decision. This includes a œPre-Proposal Poll” requiring a threshold of 500k VP; a œDraft Proposal” with a threshold of 1M VP; and a œBinding Governance Proposal” with a threshold of 6M VP.

The œOpen Call for Delegates” remains active on the Decentraland Governance Forum. Those who submit an application will be featured on the Governance Delegation dApp. Both identifying yourself as an active member of the Decentraland governance community and delegating votes to these individuals will increase the amount of active voting power in the DAO.

Meanwhile, due to high demand for wearable curation, the Wearable Curation Committee has proposed a number of nominees to serve as new members on the committee. Each nominee is an established Decentraland community member with a strong record of producing wearables. Proposals are currently active for the following candidates: Kristian, Fabeeo Breen, James Guard, Mitch Todd, AndreusAs, Grimey, and Sango.

These recent updates and more will be discussed at the monthly DAO Town Hall on February 10th, at 4:30pm EST / 9:30pm UTC. The Town Hall will be hosted in the dedicated DAO Discord server.

The issue of œcensorship” and content moderation is complicated and contentious. On the one-hand, Decentraland and its community is committed to the ethos of its namesake: decentralization. On the other hand, Decentraland does not exist in a jurisprudential vacuum and the Decentraland Foundation is legally liable for content hosted on the primary version of the Decentraland Client which it is responsible for maintaining. Decentraland™s root coding is however open source, and those seeking complete decentralization are welcome to fork the client and independently host unmoderated versions of the client. This poll may be promoted to a Draft Proposal where impacts and implementation pathways can be further explored.

The Decentraland DAO has voted to allow Third Party NFT projects to create a DAO proposal to allow purchase wearable slots for a price of $500 USD. This process will not change the price of publishing a wearable, only the process for how it is processed by the curation committee. A previously passed proposal created a pathway for NFT projects to be approved by and added to the DAO™s Third Party Registry.
